Petronas Towers
The Skybridge on level 41 and the observation deck on level 86 of the twin towers, about 56 km from Port Klang.
At a glance
From 1998 to 2004 the Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world, and they are still the tallest twin towers.
The Petronas Twin Towers are two 88-storey towers, 452 m (1,483 ft) high, designed by the Argentine architect César Pelli and opened in 1999. Their floor plan is based on an eight-pointed star made of two interlocking squares, an Islamic geometric motif, and the facades combine stainless steel and glass. They were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004.
The visit takes you to the Skybridge, the double-deck bridge between the towers on levels 41 and 42, 170 m above the ground, and then to the observation deck on level 86, about 370 m up. At the foot of the towers are the Suria KLCC mall and KLCC Park.
For cruise passengers it is a long excursion: ships calling at Kuala Lumpur dock at Port Klang, about 56 km from the towers by road, so the trip takes more than an hour each way and depends on traffic. Entry is by timed slot, so book a time that leaves a safe margin for the return to the ship.
