EMT bus 1 runs from the port along the seafront to Passeig Mallorca, a short walk from the old town and the cathedral.
Palma is one of the main cruise ports in the Mediterranean and the departure port for some itineraries. The largest ships berth at Estación Marítima 6, on the West Breakwater (Dique del Oeste), about 6 km (4 miles) by road from the cathedral. Other ships use the Poniente quays at Portopí, about 4.5 km (3 miles) away. EMT bus 1 runs from both areas along the seafront to Passeig Mallorca, and a taxi takes 10 to 20 minutes. From 1 November 2026 the Bus Nàutic boats will link the cruise terminals with the Lonja quay, next to the old town.
The cathedral, La Seu, stands above the Parc de la Mar, next to the Almudaina palace. Behind it, the narrow streets of the old town lead to the Arab baths, the church of Sant Francesc and the shopping streets around the Born and Jaume III. Bellver Castle, on a hill above the port, looks over the bay. Popular excursions go to Valldemossa and Sóller in the Serra de Tramuntana, to the Drach Caves at Porto Cristo and to coves in the south east such as Caló des Moro.

Tips for your call
- Cathedral hoursThe cathedral is closed to visitors on Sundays. On weekdays it opens from 10:00, and on Saturdays it closes at 14:15.
- Check your terminalEstación Marítima 6 is further from the centre than the Poniente quays. Check the terminal in your cruise documents.
- Back to the shipOn days with several large ships, traffic builds up on the seafront road. Be back at least an hour before all aboard.
- Trips across the islandSóller, Valldemossa and the Drach Caves take most of the day. Book a tour that guarantees the return to the ship.
- TaxisOfficial fares: a €4.65 supplement applies to trips from the port, and the minimum fare from the airport is €16.95.
Accessibility
Estación Marítima 4 follows universal accessibility rules, according to the port authority. Palma has taxis adapted for wheelchairs. The seafront promenade is flat, but some streets around the cathedral have slopes and steps.
