Royal Caribbean Group has announced a significant expansion of its innovative Icon Class fleet. The company has signed an agreement with Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku to order a fourth Icon Class ship, scheduled for delivery in 2027. This deal, valued at over $100 million, also includes options for a potential fifth and sixth ship in the series.

Key points from the announcement include:

  • The new ship will join Royal Caribbean International’s fleet, following the success of Icon of the Seas and the anticipated launches of Star of the Seas (2025) and a third unnamed Icon Class ship (2026).
  • The agreement strengthens Royal Caribbean’s long-standing relationship with Meyer Turku, which will have built 21 ships for the company over 28 years upon completion of this order.
  • Icon of the Seas, the first ship in this class, has exceeded expectations in guest satisfaction and financial performance since its debut in January 2024.
  • The Icon Class ships are known for their innovative features, including an all-encompassing lineup of experiences that combine beach retreats, resort escapes, and theme park adventures.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, “We’re thrilled to join with Meyer Turku once again to expand our roster of Icon Class ships and continue our future growth plans.”

This order is part of Royal Caribbean’s strategy for moderate capacity growth and represents a significant investment in the future of cruise vacations.
