Singapore all year, South-East Asia in winter and Japan in spring and autumn.

Asia cruises are built around big hubs. Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo are departure ports, and several lines keep ships based in Singapore all year. Shorter cruises from Singapore head to Malaysia and Thailand, with calls at Port Klang for Kuala Lumpur, at Phuket and at Laem Chabang for Bangkok.

In South-East Asia the best months are November to April, outside the south-west monsoon, when the sea is rougher. Japan is best in spring and autumn, from March to May and in October and November; summer is hot and humid, and typhoons are possible from June to October, also in Hong Kong.

Some ports are far from the city they are named after: Port Klang is about 50 km from Kuala Lumpur and Laem Chabang about 120 km from Bangkok, so most passengers go on an excursion or a cruise line transfer. In Phuket, ships usually anchor off Patong beach and passengers go ashore by tender.
