Oceania’s Riviera to Pioneer Maiden Season in Australia and New Zealand

March 26, 2025

Oceania Cruises is set to mark a significant milestone as its luxury vessel Riviera prepares for its inaugural Australia and New Zealand season. The 1,250-guest ship will embark on a series of voyages that combine luxury cruising with an unprecedented focus on culinary experiences in the region.

The ambitious 2026 Australia and New Zealand season, scheduled from November 2025 to March 2026, will feature diverse itineraries ranging from 14 to 35 days. Passengers will have the opportunity to explore both iconic destinations and hidden gems, from the bustling harbor of Sydney to the pristine shores of Mystery Island in Vanuatu and the unique wildlife haven of Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer at Oceania Cruises, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating that this new chapter demonstrates their commitment to providing immersive experiences that celebrate regional cultures and landscapes.

A standout feature of the Riviera’s programming is The Culinary Center, a state-of-the-art cooking school at sea where guests can participate in hands-on cooking classes. The cruise line has specifically developed a new class called “Down Under Abundance” for this season, showcasing local ingredients and cooking techniques from Australia and New Zealand.

The ship offers an impressive array of dining venues, including the authentic Italian restaurant Toscana, the sophisticated Polo Grill steakhouse, and Jacques, a French bistro curated by renowned chef Jacques Pépin. Complementing these culinary offerings, the Riviera also features the Artist Loft for creative activities and the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center for wellness enthusiasts.

To enhance the cultural immersion, guests can opt for pre- or post-cruise land programs, such as the Great Barrier Island Adventure in Auckland or a Scenic Journey to the Blue Mountains from Sydney, where travelers can learn about Aboriginal Dreamtime stories from National Park Rangers.

This expansion into the Australia-New Zealand market represents a strategic move for Oceania Cruises, offering travelers a new way to experience the region’s diverse landscapes, cultures, and culinary traditions through the lens of luxury cruising.
