Gardens by the Bay
Supertrees, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest on the Marina Bay waterfront, 3 km from the cruise centre.
At a glance
The Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world, part of a 105-hectare park built on reclaimed land.
Gardens by the Bay is a 105-hectare (260-acre) park on reclaimed land beside Marina Bay, opened in 2012. Its best-known part, Bay South Garden, combines free outdoor gardens with two cooled glass conservatories: the Flower Dome, with plants from Mediterranean and semi-arid regions, and the Cloud Forest, which recreates a tropical mountain environment around a 42 m indoor mountain and waterfall.
Between them stands the Supertree Grove, vertical gardens of steel up to the height of a 16-storey building and planted with more than 162,900 plants of over 200 species. The grove and the outdoor gardens are open every day from 05:00 to 02:00 at no charge; the OCBC Skyway walkway between the Supertrees and the Supertree Observatory are ticketed.
For cruise passengers it is one of the easiest visits in Singapore: Marina Bay Cruise Centre is about 3 km away by road, a short taxi ride or an MRT trip to Gardens by the Bay station. Two to three hours cover the two conservatories and a walk through the Supertree Grove, which leaves time for Marina Bay Sands and the waterfront.
