The first and most important thing you should know is that the city of Orlando is located inland and does not have an ocean. When people talk about the “port of Orlando,” they are actually referring to Port Canaveral, which is located on the east coast of Florida, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) from the city.
It is one of the busiest and most important cruise ports in the world. The cruise terminals are state-of-the-art buildings, enormous, and fully air-conditioned. They are specifically designed to handle the flow of thousands of passengers (and their luggage) simultaneously. Major cruise lines such as Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, and MSC have designated terminals equipped with modern technology to speed up security checks and boarding.
Outside each terminal, you will find:

The organization at the port is excellent, and the transportation service is very smooth. There is a constant movement of vehicles at the terminals, so in the vast majority of cases, the wait is short, and it will take you very little time to get your car to start your trip to Disney or the Kennedy Space Center.

Heading to Walt Disney World

The Journey: The Disney parks are located about 110 kilometers (70 miles) west of the port.

Transportation and Time: The most comfortable, private, and direct way to get there is by using an Uber, Lyft, or a traditional taxi service. Under normal traffic conditions, this trip takes approximately one hour.

The Route: It is a very simple and almost straight-line drive on the highway (mainly the SR-528 toll road), ideal for resting before you start walking through the parks.
NASA’s Kennedy Space Center
If you have a free day before going to Disney, or if you are looking for an alternative to the theme parks, you have one of the best excursions in the world literally right next to the port: NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

Unbeatable Location: Unlike Disney, the Space Center is not in Orlando, but in Cape Canaveral. This means that from the cruise port, you will arrive in just 15 or 20 minutes by taxi or Uber.

Exploring the Port Itself
The port is not just an industrial transit point; it has a tourist and entertainment area called The Cove. It is a marina that features several waterfront restaurants and bars (with very pleasant terraces). It is a fantastic place to have a drink, eat fresh seafood, and see the giant cruise ships up close.
Right at the mouth of the port is Jetty Park. It features a beach, a fishing pier, and camping areas. It is a local tradition to gather in this park in the afternoons to greet and wave goodbye to the cruise ships setting sail for the Caribbean.
