Royal Caribbean has announced Hero of the Seas, its fourth ship in the Icon Class, which will be based in Miami starting in August 2027. The cruise line presents the launch as an evolution of its family experiences, with a clear focus on pools, water activities, dining, and staterooms designed for groups spanning multiple generations.
More space for families
According to information shared by the company, Hero of the Seas will feature eight neighborhoods on board, the highest number of pools in the fleet, and 28 dining options. New highlights include the Ultimate Family Treehouse, a three-deck accommodation designed for up to 12 guests, with a rooftop terrace, a teens’ area, and a private hot tub.
Royal Caribbean also points to new family options in Surfside, along with stateroom categories such as the Ultimate Family Townhouse, Surfside Family Suites, and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies. The concept aims to serve larger family groups and multigenerational trips.
Entertainment and attractions
On the entertainment side, the ship will introduce Coconut Cove, a new pool with in-water service, as well as enhancements to Splashaway Bay and other areas designed for relaxation and play. The leisure deck will also include the Category 6 waterpark, with two new family slides, including the first funnel-style slide at sea.
The cruise line also notes that guests will find offerings such as Crown’s Edge, FlowRider, a rock-climbing wall, mini golf, and sports courts. With these additions, Hero of the Seas expands on the typical Icon Class activity lineup with new options for families and groups of friends.
Itineraries from Miami
The new ship will operate 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami. All itineraries will include a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private destination in the Bahamas. Announced ports of call include Roatán, Cozumel, Costa Maya, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas.
Bookings will open in stages, first for Crown & Anchor Society members and then for the general public. Royal Caribbean said sales would begin in early April 2026.
