New York has three cruise terminals. Most ships use the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, on the Hudson River at West 46th to 54th Streets (Piers 88 and 90), about 2 km (1.2 miles) on foot from Times Square: Norwegian, Carnival, Oceania, Viking and several luxury lines in 2026. Cunard's Queen Mary 2, Princess and Virgin Voyages sail from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, and Royal Caribbean and Celebrity from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, 22 km (14 miles) away by road. From JFK, yellow taxis charge a $70 flat fare to Manhattan plus extras; the AirTrain and the E subway are cheaper. From Newark, NJ Transit trains run to Penn Station.
From the Manhattan terminal you can walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and the south end of Central Park in 25 to 30 minutes. The E line from 50 St runs to World Trade Center for the 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street and the Financial District, and the ferries to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island leave from The Battery nearby. In December, the Rockefeller Center tree and the Fifth Avenue windows are a short walk away. Ships calling in transit usually dock in Manhattan, so a day ashore can be spent entirely on foot and by subway.
