Holland America Line and The HISTORY Channel™ have joined forces to transform the way travelers experience destinations through a unique historical lens.

This first-of-its-kind partnership aims to elevate the cruise experience by allowing guests to not just learn about a destination’s history but to truly immerse themselves in it. Through carefully curated itineraries and specialized shore excursions, passengers will have the opportunity to explore ancient ruins and legendary landmarks while discovering the fascinating stories of the civilizations that shaped them.

Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer for Holland America Line, emphasized the experiential nature of this new offering, stating, “With us, history isn’t just told, it is experienced.” This partnership represents a strategic alignment of two brands deeply rooted in storytelling, positioning Holland America Line to deliver unique historical experiences that deserve to be savored.

The collaboration will feature several specially curated worldwide itineraries rich in historical significance. Among the highlighted offerings are a 14-Day Arctic Journey & Northern Lights expedition, a 7-Day Mediterranean Marvels of Pompeii cruise, and a 7-Day Norwegian Fjords with Hardangerfjord voyage. Future themed departures will explore the ancient empires of the eastern Mediterranean, Viking heritage in northern Europe, and the fascinating history of polar exploration in the Arctic.

Shore excursions under this partnership have been thoughtfully designed to provide in-depth historical experiences. Passengers can choose from various options including gold panning and underground mine exploration, visits to the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, and Pyramid of Sakkara, or exploring the old and new aspects of Stavanger. Each tour is crafted to offer comprehensive insights into the historical significance of these locations.

David DeSocio, executive vice president of ad sales partnerships at A+E/The HISTORY Channel, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting how The HISTORY Channel’s brand will add a new dimension to the cruising experience. The partnership aims to enable customers to better understand the historical significance of their destinations, from past to present and future.

This three-year partnership comes at a time when Holland America Line’s research indicates that their guests particularly value learning about destinations and visiting historic sites. The collaboration will help meet these aspirations while strengthening the cruise line’s commitment to authentic storytelling.

Bookings for these historically-focused itineraries and shore excursions are currently available, with additional itineraries and excursions for 2025, 2026, and 2027 to be announced in the coming months.
