Carnival Cruise Line is counting down to a significant milestone as their new exclusive destination, Celebration Key, prepares for its grand opening on July 19, 2025. The destination, located on Grand Bahama, represents a major investment in the region’s tourism infrastructure and showcases Carnival’s commitment to sustainable development.
The destination features five distinct “portals,” each offering unique experiences for guests. The centerpiece is a 10-story Suncastle, which houses racing waterslides and serves as a focal point for family entertainment at the Starfish Lagoon portal. For adult travelers, the Calypso Lagoon offers an exclusive area complete with a DJ island and swim-up bar, while the premium Pearl Cove Beach Club provides an upscale experience with infinity pools and beachfront cabanas.
In a demonstration of their commitment to environmental sustainability, the project includes significant conservation efforts. The development team has successfully preserved and replanted approximately 1,000 sabal palms across the property. Additionally, the destination features two freshwater lagoons, reported to be the largest in the Caribbean, maintained by an innovative desalination system that converts seawater into freshwater.

The economic impact on Grand Bahama has been substantial, with 28 Bahamian companies contributing to the project. Currently, about 500 workers are on site daily as construction continues around the clock to meet the summer opening deadline.
Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the significance of this development, stating that “Celebration Key represents a new chapter for Carnival and its construction builds on our close partnership with The Bahamas”. The destination will be featured on hundreds of Carnival itineraries across 20 ships sailing from 10 U.S. homeports, with bookings already available through 2027.
The inaugural sailing to Celebration Key will be made by Carnival Vista on July 19, marking the beginning of a new era in Carnival’s Caribbean offerings and providing guests with a fresh destination that combines entertainment, relaxation, and cultural experiences in the Bahamas.
