Two Milestones for the Edge Series
The main news is the delivery and reception of Celebrity Xcel, which joins the fleet immediately following the official ceremony at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France. The event brought together cruise line executives and Captain Kyriakos Matragkas along with more than 1,600 crew members. The celebrations included the symbolic changing of flags and a formal transfer signing, as well as a toast in the ship’s Grand Plaza.
The Celebrity Xcel begins operations in November 2025 from Fort Lauderdale (USA), offering seven-night Caribbean itineraries and, in summer 2026, voyages through Europe and the Mediterranean. The ship introduces seven new spaces, designed to strengthen the connection between passengers and destinations.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Xcite has been unveiled as the sixth ship in the Edge Series, and its construction has already begun. The name was officially revealed during the steel-cutting ceremony, marking the start of construction at the same French shipyard. The Celebrity Xcite is expected to enter service in 2028, maintaining and expanding on the proposals and innovations of its Edge Series predecessors while reinforcing the brand’s leadership in the luxury cruise sector.
