Royal Caribbean International, in collaboration with football legend Lionel Messi, launched their innovative cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas, during a celebratory event in Miami.
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner and TIME’s 2023 Athlete of the Year, led the ship’s christening ceremony. The grand unveiling of the Icon of the Seas, hosted by four-time Emmy Award-winning Mario Lopez, took place in the AquaDome neighborhood. The event showcased the ship’s impressive array of experiences and was attended by Royal Caribbean executives, crew, and partners.

Upon its initial announcement in October 2022, the Icon set booking records for the cruise line. The Icon of the Seas offers a wide array of experiences, from beach retreats to resort escapes and theme park adventures. The ship features eight unique neighborhoods, six record-breaking waterslides, a suspended infinity pool at sea, and over 40 dining and entertainment venues.

The ship’s maiden voyage takes place on January 27, offering vacationers a 7-night Caribbean adventure departing from Miami, which includes a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, in The Bahamas.
