MSC Cruises is modernising its fleet’s internet connectivity with SpaceX’s Starlink. Currently, 15 out of 22 ships in the fleet are enjoying enhanced wifi in cabins and public areas, faster internet speeds, and reduced latency levels. This upgrade is part of a roll-out programme set to complete by May 2024.

The first ship to benefit from this upgrade was MSC Magnifica in December 2022. Bandwidth consumption on board has continued to rise due to increased usage of connected devices and apps by guests.

Starlink’s high capacity will ensure that MSC Cruises can meet the future connectivity demands of its passengers and crew. Ships currently equipped include:

MSC Opera and MSC World Europa are set to join next and five more ships will be upgraded before summer 2024: MSC Armonia, MSC Bellissima, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Splendida and MSC Musica.
