Royal Caribbean International has announced its latest addition to the Icon Class fleet, the Legend of the Seas, marking another milestone in the cruise industry’s evolution toward more sustainable and family-oriented vacation experiences.

Set to make its debut in July 2026, the Legend of the Seas will commence operations with 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona. Following its European season, the ship will transition to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2026, offering 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed enthusiasm about the announcement, stating that “Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy”.

The ship promises an impressive array of attractions and amenities. Passengers will have access to the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6, and various innovative features including Crown’s Edge – a unique combination of skywalk, ropes course, and thrill ride. The vessel will feature seven pools catering to different preferences, including Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea, the adults-only Hideaway with its infinity pool, and the Swim & Tonic swim-up bar.

Families are at the heart of the Legend’s design, with the Surfside neighborhood specifically created for young families. The ship will also feature the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse, offering reimagined spaces for family enjoyment.

In line with Royal Caribbean’s commitment to sustainability, Legend of the Seas will be the company’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The vessel will incorporate various environmental innovations, from waste heat recovery systems to shore power connection capabilities, advancing Royal Caribbean Group’s ambitious goal of introducing a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.

Caribbean itineraries will include visits to several stunning destinations, including Oranjestad, Aruba, Falmouth, Jamaica, and Willemstad, Curacao, with every journey featuring a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.

Booking opportunities will begin soon, with Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members receiving priority access before the official opening on February 20, 2025.
