Her three sisters cannot transit the Panama Canal; Brilliant Lady was redesigned so she could open routes to Mexico, the West Coast and Alaska.

Brilliant Lady is the fourth and last Lady Ship of Virgin Voyages; construction delays at Fincantieri pushed her debut to 5 September 2025, when she sailed from New York. Her design was modified so that she can transit the Panama Canal: the lifeboats sit further inboard, the aft overhang on Deck 7 was removed and some Deck 8 balconies became a new cabin category. In March 2026 she made the line's first canal crossing and became its first ship on the US West Coast and in Alaska, with departures from Los Angeles and Seattle. She keeps the adults-only (18+) format, with more than 20 eateries included in the fare and the Spanish restaurant Rojo by Razzle Dazzle, found only on this ship.
